Pink dresses and bows,
The guests have arrived,
Keeping Mom on her toes.
There’s cake to be eaten,
And punch to be drank.
Gifts to be opened,
So the guests they can thank.
The honeymoon was fun,
They had a good time,
But money is tight,
And they spent every dime.
Their households they combined,
To make their lives one,
Each chore is now shared,
But that makes it more fun.
His job is demanding,
He’s working more hours,
She wishes he’d think,
To send her some flowers.
Her belly is swollen,
A baby within,
His face is aglow,
With a proud, silly grin.
Soccer practice at four,
Piano at five,
By bedtime at ten,
She feels barely alive.
His job includes travel,
To places afar,
Business is booming,
Expensive is his car.
Time together is rare,
Conversations brief,
More often than not,
They end up causing grief.
The fighting escalates,
Can’t take anymore,
One day he decides
To walk, slamming the door.
Alone, her and the kids,
A new life to start,
A vow now broken,
That they never would part.
White lilies and orchids,
Wedding dress and bow,
Wilted and wrinkled,
Like they life that they show.

Too bad there is a typo in the last stanza
Like THE life that they show.
