"Oh yes Lord, I do. The color, the shape, the way it zips around the corners and fits into parking spaces other cars can’t get into, it’s so awesome. It cost a lot, but is so worth the price. There just isn’t another car out there like it, and now it’s mine, all mine."
I can see what you’re saying.
"It’s not just that. It’s so new and responsive. I've had cars in the past but this one; this one I am going to take care of. I’m never going to let the needle get past ¼ empty, because I’ve heard that if you let it get to the 'low on gas' light then sludge runs through your engine and it won’t last as long or perform as well."
I hear you.
"And as for dirt! I wash that thing, (Mabel, I call her Mabel), once a week down at the car wash. She really hates being dirty. She uses up plenty of quarters, but I get the wax polish too so that she shines. The gleam, the stripe down her from front to back…she’s so unique, I just jump around the place when I think of her. Sometimes I wave at people as I drive with the windows down and the music up, a huge smile on my face because I'm the lucky one to be her driver."
I know what you mean.
"I bring her in for all of her check-ups. Every three thousands miles it’s like she reminds me that she needs to go in; I’m right there at the car care center with her, getting her new oil and a courtesy brake check. They check her alignment and rotate the tires and basically give her everything she needs to function beautifully. I can practically hear her purr each time we leave the mechanic."
I totally get you.
"And that road trip? Wow! Mabel was beyond belief. She put herself way out there, responding to every light press of my foot on the gas pedal, gliding to a halt at each red light. The steering wheel slid from side to side with each turn and you wouldn’t believe the miles per gallon she ran on! It was sheer joy being in that driver’s seat. It was as if Mabel knew exactly what I needed and when I needed it and was happy to comply. I didn’t even come close to an accident because she turned and stopped and stayed in her line so flawlessly. When I stopped to eat she would sit in the parking lot with a look on her face as if to say, “When are you going to drive me again? You are the only driver for me. Speed up on that burger, I’m hungry for more of this being driven business.”
And when we arrived in Kansas, now don’t think I’m crazy, but it felt like she was as excited as I was that we had made it there together.
As for those leather seats…."

"..they were like sliding on new ice; plush, comfortable, no back problems…"

"Oh, sorry. Yes, Lord?"
Have you ever thought that you might be that kind of car to me?
"What?"
Your journey with me is like one or many long road trips. I’d like to be your owner, your driver on every one of them. Will you be my Mabel…..?
