A translucent kaleidoscopic shower of rainbows cascaded over the pixie as her prism barreled into the sunbeams.
This was no time for vigorous repose or indolent struggle. The mischievous sprite snatched a pixel of indigo tartan and boomeranged it into a field of sunflowers. No telling whether elf or hobgoblin or leprechaun might be scrutinizing the blink of an eye between here and there. There is only one first flight for a fairy.
A shadow obscured the iambics of the muse whose perfect timbre urged her home. The dissonance resonated from an oaf who sought to vaporize the moment. The surge of euphoria enveloped her heart and rocketed it beyond the cloudy warriors that sought to snuff out the triumph of ecstasy. The titillation of her soul mesmerized her will into silence.
No troll or ogre dared to haunt the passages to the hidden valleys of honeyed sighs and the fairy flew unimpeded on gossamer wings of light. No dragonfly rose to hinder her quest. A bouquet of jasmine, sandalwood and rose drew her unerringly along. The fragrance of lavender, geranium and lily framed the narrow way.
A moment of hesitation disquieted her desire. Was she smitten or bewitched? Beguiled or enamored? What quest could entreat her to stumble in her resolve? What resolutions were enshrined in this momentary pleasure?
A nano-second to breathe and believe and the echoes of doubt disappeared as a morning mist at dawn. She dove deep into the sea of the unknown and embraced her freedom. The surge of the warrior princess pressed her onward. She petitioned the sages of the ages for the gems that would mark the way. Portentous and venerable, they endowed her with strength for her battle.
Strange forces arose from deep within her and propelled her forward, ever forward. Once a fairy flies her first flight she can never return to the heart-beat before the bliss. All her life was created for this moment.
On a distant horizon she saw the beckoning like Northern Lights across her way. Mesmerized and enticed, she was drawn with magnetic force like a petal over a waterfall. And yet she flew through the spray and braved the rapids undeterred. The roar of thunders bellowed around her yet still she flew.
Undaunted now, she darted to the Seraph’s portals and glistened in the glow of a Creator whose smile reverberated through his universe. Her cares now had the weight of a solitary snowflake in the wind, the whisper of an emerging Monarch’s wing, the passing shadow of an eagle’s feather falling, the substance of cotton candy cumulous.
And then the hush of tranquility like a placid lake first touched by the full moon emerging from the clouds; like a babe asleep after a full feed; like a kitten worn by a day of play. The beat of hummingbird wings stilled. Grace and love at home in the filled heart of Abba’s child.
“You can open your eyes now.”
“Why?”
“I want you to remember this.”
“Remember what?”
“Our first kiss.”
“I am.”
“And now, in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, I pronounce you husband and wife.”
