TITLE: ROUND UP OF OUT-LAWS | Previous Challenge Entry

Invading towns and pillaging, leaving everyone who grieves
We’re never the same as they enter and leave happy little homes
A change takes place; we must adjust out of comfort zones!
I’m not at all sure I like the way he talks to my daughter
And what’s come over her attitude? This is not what I taught her
This out-law has inflicted new ideas into her brain
She coos to him and smiles of love, which drives me quite insane!
And what of my wonderfully adoring child, the light of life, my son
Who was mesmerized and captured, by an out-law he was won
He joined her gang and rarely came back, my treasure of a boy
He was under her spell and she moved him about as if he were a toy
I’ll gather posse; we’ll round them up and kick them to the street
No one will ever take them in, nor friend in town will greet
My family will go back the way it seemed to be before
If out-laws show their face again, I’ll march them to the door
Then thoughts came of how things were, very much I ponder
Things weren’t that bad and much was good, my thoughts began to wonder
Maybe if I’d taken the time to make IN-laws and not OUT
And should have spoken differently rather than to spout
Those lawless invaders did come in to spark things up a bit
I should have looked more closely to see how we could fit
Could it be true, I began to think, that I was the OUT-law
By not including everyone, it was only now I saw
I think I’ll look much deeper to see what my kids see
After all if they can let them in why was it hard for me?
My Father took me from my out-law ways and now I know
The kind of love He gave to me is the love that I should show
So I’ll gather the posse to round them in and welcome them this time
I’ve enough love to share with them and be myself…sublime
I’ll protect this little brood of mine like a hen to her covey
We’ll enjoy each one of these out…in-laws and be all sweetly lovey!
