I could see everything as you described it. I enjoyed your list of "everything" that your mother was from "alarm clock" to "homework overseer". This sentence is good, "I could smell the scent of freshly turned sod beneath the façade of wall to wall flowers." I like your "statement of fact" at the end: "you'll only have one mother". This is a beautiful tribute to your mother.
Lovely and very moving. How can we forget one who has done so much for us? I know I can't!

Nice tribute, but why are the words deathly, think, supposedly in italics? Not necessary, adds nothing to the telling or to the reading of your piece. The italics for the person's thoughts are fine. Italics also are okay when used in a screenplay, stage play etc. so that the performer will know how to convey the proper emotion to the audience.
