Her reached over to his stationery drawer, took out his gold Sheaffer and began to write:
To all our lovely children,
Now That You Have All Flown The Nest.
I love you Geoff because you came to us first as a loveable little boy. You had already had disappointments and knocks that could have justifiably made you bitter- but they didn’t and haven’t.
Geoff, mum and I are proud of you. You have grown into a fine young man. As a child and a youth you were the one who was always the helpful one. I thank God that as a family we have come to know and love you through the journey of life.
Our lives have been enriched by knowing you. We shall always love you and be there for you. Your generous spirit is an example to us and we hope and pray God’s rich blessing will always be upon your life.
Nicola mum and I love you very much. You were always the shy and retiring one. You have grown into a lovely young woman with a caring, loving and quiet spirit. You deserve the best in life and that is our prayer for you.
I think you have grown into a wise young lady and that you are a person to be looked up to and I do! We love you very much Nicola and always will. Always feel free to come to us with your joys and fears. We are yours forever.
For you I pray God will fulfil all your hearts desires and that you may be aware of His love for you.
Rachel you have only just flown the nest and mum and I want you to know how much we love you. I know that under, the sometimes, hard exterior there is a genuine concern for others.
We know that you need others who love you to make you feel secure and we want you to know that we love you very much. I hope and pray that things will work out well for you. Mum and I will always be there for you if you need us.
When you were a child you had a lovely sereneness and I pray you may recapture that in life. You are a rare person with a free spirit; I pray it may be channelled in what will bring you lasting peace and happiness. I pray God will support you at this time and always.
Now to you all from dad,
When you bring up a family you only get one go. I know I have made mistakes and I’m sorry. When you were a young family I was trying to make up for my lack of effort at school in education. Quite often I was studying when I should have been giving you all much more of my time and I’m sorry for that.
I think now that I was too strict but I was trying to follow the Bible way, “Spare the rod and spoil the child”. Maybe I went overboard with this at times – please forgive me.
I want you to know I love you all equally and very much. You are all unique and I wouldn’t have any of you different to what you are. You are all special personalities.

My only note is I think the word "have" was missing from the last line, am I correct? It read a tad awkwardly-otherwise, nice writing! ^_^
