“How fitting that nature herself seems to be mourning with my soul.”
A mother speaks out loud but there is no one to hear. Worry weighs down her heart as she lifts her son in prayer. Grief for his pain lays deep furrows across her brow as she intercedes for her son and husband who are hundreds of miles away.

The wind whines eerily as it buffets the truck. Icy rain pelts the doors as the wind pushes it violently. The temperatures hover just above freezing as the storm outside howls in its fury. Its gloominess is so intense it permeates into every crevice of the truck.
In another state, driving down the interstate, a father and son travel. Very few words are said as both pray for the Lord to be with them. They know hard choices are soon to be made. The son tries to put up a brave front, but the father sees clearly. He reassures his son that he is there for him. Silently the father says in his heart, “How fitting that nature herself seems to be mourning with my soul,” and continues to lift his son in prayers.

A young woman speaks out loud, but there is no one to answer. Sadness weighs down her heart and she holds her baby close. Soon her husband will arrive and get his belongings. Soon they will live apart and her child will have to learn about his father during visitations. Soon, she will be on her own.

Years pass. The young mother and father have taken the pieces that once were their lives and gone forward. Both have become better people and have found happiness. The child is now grown and has been raised with the assurance of his parents’ love. He is secure and self confident and has been taught of the love of God.
A mother and father have continued to pray through the years as they watch their son and his family grow. They stand strong in their faith as they forge the path for their children to follow. Like the generations that came before, they shine the light so their children and grandchildren can see. They hold fast, they stand secure, they pray for guidance.
What Satan had planned for their destruction, God has turned around to make them all stronger.

Had to read this twice to figure out who was who. Maybe some type of clue or descriptive word to indicate that the woman at the beginning is not the same one who is holding the baby later in the piece. Just my thoughts.
