Arms clad in Geneva-gowned black extend an invitation to sing a hymn.
Tears fall from brilliant eyes as a testimony shines forth.
One thing I do know. I was blind but now I see!
Knees knock as legs tremble under the weight of a first sermon.
The congregation straining in silent prayer for God to bless this ministry.
A pierced youth with purple pointed mohawk reads from the Gospel of John.
Shocking those sitting in pews, as he is stunned by Jesus' perfect love.
Hands on a watch on the preacher's wrist;
Ignored as the sermon drifts on and on.
Joyous shouts of acclamation;
Punctuated by the pounding of fists on firm wood.
The storyteller reels the congregation in closer...
Then releases them! Driving the point home with laughter
One puts on a mask to conceal the pain.
One removes a mask to reveal the struggle.
Words go forth like seeds to the soil;
Some falling on rocky ground, some to freshly furrowed fields.
A call to repentance; A call to confession;
A call to acceptance; A life surrendered.
