Have pierced my soul as well; a stab
Of red-hot pain shot through my life,
With bleak despair my mind was grabbed…
They say that time should heal such wounds,
But it has merely dulled the pain;
For every time I raise my head
My failures cite my past of shame...
Forgetting summer days, when smiles
Would decorate a happy face;
Each day now reinforces strong
The walls of failures’ lone embrace…
~~~
But in a maze with no escape,
There is a key which tears it down:
The day your love had touched my life
And smiles had blossomed from my frown…
Your hand reached out to me that moment
And showed the Love that never dies;
I read of He who sees no failures
When I looked deep into your eyes…
One glance showed all that I had needed,
And Love’s brief war with shame was won;
Now I will spend eternity
Thanking God for all He’s done…
