Once I dared to hope He might be the Messiah, but every hope was nailed to the cross with him. Every hope perished when he gasped his final words.
“It is finished.” Indeed, it is all finished: every dream, every reason to live.
When the darkness came, one final hope was born; I hoped that maybe the end of the world had come. But even that hope faded when the sun rose again as usual the next day.
Today each second, each breath is filled with despair. Why is life given those in misery? What would I give for it all to be over? I’ve begged for an end to it all, but this morning all I got for my prayers is the most beautiful sunrise I’ve ever seen. It is as if the sun is laughing at my sorrow.
Now I’m on my way to his tomb, for one final chance to see his body. I’m not sure why I am voluntarily causing myself so much pain. I know I will break down once again at the sight of the body of the man we loved so much, but in my heart I know I have to do this just once more.
I only pray that somehow, in some way, the glory of the dawn will echo in my heart and cause hope to rise once more. Is this too much to ask?
