My best thing was the snake. I got to hold it all by myself -- with nobody helping me.
Daddy took pictures. Mommy sent the picture to everyone we know. She told her friend not to look at the picture if she didn’t want to. Her friend is very afraid of snakes. I like snakes.
I want to go back to the Adventure Pet Zoo someday. It didn’t take too long to get there. The big zoo takes longer.
We went there because they had ring tailed lemurs. We never saw a real one of those before. But we couldn’t touch them. They weren’t very nice.
It’s a small zoo. But we got to pet most of the animals, but not the ones who might bite us. Like the monkeys.
Someone from that zoo came to my school. That’s how we found out about it. From the paper they gave us at school.
I got to touch a tarantula. My little brother didn’t want to. I was very gentle. They told me to be. And I was.
The chinchilla was so soft. It was like touching air. It was fun to watch it take a dust bath. It swirls all around in a bowl of dust to fluff its fur back out.
They teach you stuff about the animals, too. Daddy says I need to learn to focus better. But he and Mommy get distracted sometimes, too.
The snake room was hot. We got sweaty. They had lots of snakes. One was almost as fat as a telephone pole. They rescued it from a family with little kids. They didn’t even keep it in a cage. It has a big cage at the zoo.
And they rescued a huge tortoise from becoming turtle soup. It was very old, older than any person on Earth. I like planets, too.
We got to touch an alligator. They taped its mouth shut first. But they used tape that didn’t bother its skin. It didn’t seem too happy though.
Mommy only touched the bunny and the chinchilla. She kept telling us not to touch our faces after touching so many animals. She didn’t want us to get sick.
We couldn’t touch the crocodiles. They aren’t as nice as alligators. They were in a different cage from the alligators. The boy said the alligators and crocodiles don’t eat the turtles in their pool because they aren’t hungry. They feed them good.
One old alligator was still small. Its owners didn’t take good care of it. He’s getting better though. But he’ll always be smaller than the other ones. Some people are like that, too. Daddy says everyone is different -- and special. God made us that way.
Why do people buy snakes and lizards and stuff if they don’t want a huge pet? Don’t they know how big it will get?
We don’t have any pets. We had a dog, but it died.
Mommy didn’t like the reptile room. She didn’t like the poison toads either. We couldn’t touch those. They were the biggest toads I ever saw.
Daddy liked the lizards. One of them can walk on water. I saw one do that in a movie once. But it isn’t as heavy as Jesus.
My brother liked the giant rabbits best. He petted the wallaby, too. Its foot was hurt when it was a baby. It’s ok now though.
The rats were cute. The girl said the wild ones are dirty. She said it’s not good to have wild ones in your house. They have lots of babies.
We have a mouse in our garage. We saw some in our yard, too. We named them Mousey and Micey.
Mommy says we should always stay away from wild animals. They might be sick. We don’t want to get rabies or anything.
One day we drove by a raccoon behind a tree in the daytime. Raccoons are nocturnal. That means they’re usually out at night. Maybe it was sick.
The boy said never to trust wild animals. He doesn’t even trust the ones he’s known since they were babies.
I like zoos. I like animals. God created them all. And someone has to take care of them.
I used to want to be a vet and a doctor and a ballerina when I grew up. Then I wanted to be a grandma and a teacher. But maybe I will be a zookeeper, too.

I love the POV -- it's a great adventure from the little girl's perspective. Nice job.
