I "think" this is a lovely story, but my brain never did catch up to the brain within a brain...in order to KNOW. In other words, it was over my head - to be quite honest. The whole time I was trying to think of "Who" this "thing" was, what "this" or "that" person was? I was just too busy trying to comprehend all the aspects to enjoy the read. Does that make sense? Probably not. But I believe "if I could have followed it"...it was well done I think... and written well.

A deeper read for certain, but very well worth the effort. Some of my favorite lines were: "I long to relieve the shame that paints her cheeks deep crimson, that sprays the lenses of her glasses with a teary mist." "..Katie's voice grows soft and bright with music." "His eyes are slivered almonds, shaped by his extra chromosome." I loved the last three paragraphs. This story is beautifully written and deserves a second read.
