God calls His people to be obedient to His word. But in order for His people to honor such a decree, we must study and examine His word. It is not an easy task at times. There are times that the Bible can become a bit confusing, especially for the layman who has never attended Bible College or been through an intensive study course concerning the Gospel. Nevertheless, God commands us to obey His commands. And in order to do such a thing we must read the owner’s manual He has created for us.
The Bible contains stories, chapters, and verses that stimulate our emotions and intellectual processes, but it also contains sections that make the reader wonder if contradictions exist. I have read countless reports on these supposed contradictions, yet I have never found even one inconsistency in the Bible that has led me to question my faith that the Bible is indeed a Holy document. There are just as many reports and articles that accurately defend any attack on the Bible’s integrity.
If a person reads the Bible from cover to cover, they shall discover not only a calling to be obedient to our Creator but all the reasons we should want to be obedient to the Father who has given us the gift of existence. Our obedience to God comes not from fear of what will happen to us if we don’t follow His instructions. It comes from the fact that He cared about us enough to leave us with instructions that can bless us beyond our wildest imagination. If my hopes and dreams were based on a world created by chance and chaos, the best I can hope for would be controlled chaos. With God, The Bible, and my obedience, I can count on a world with structure, vision, and hope. I choose God, and of course that choice comes from the fact He chose me first.
