and pigs might fly.
Why not?
Because I’m old.
I have a bunion on one foot
and had one taken off the other.
I’m a grandparent.
My kids and grandkids need me here.
I just had treatment for
varicose veins.
I recently fell and
broke the costal cartilage in
my ribs. It hurts to breathe.
Maybe I should just stay in bed.
Who do I think I am?
I might fall again.
I might not be good enough.
I might have to stop
eating so much ice cream,
cookies and candy.
People might laugh at me.
I’ve never had ‘the eye of the tiger’
And remember,
I’m old.
But there’s breath (albeit painful) still in me.
Abraham was old.
Sarah was old.
Moses was old.
Zechariah and Elizabeth
were old.
God used them
anyway.
They are an inspiration.
‘Old’ is a blessing.
It’s the flipside of young.
My body will heal.
I can believe, train
and become stronger.
I could be part of a team
helping each other
to be our best.
I don’t want to miss this chance.
Maybe I could
inspire someone else.
When are those qualifying games?
I want to be there.
