I never fail to need;
Meeting with each other,
As from His Word I read.
Each day with expectation,
I come to Meet Him here;
His gentle voice surrounds me
In nature, loud and clear.
I want to pause and wonder,
I need to stop and see:
There’s beauty all around me
On land, and on the seas.
His designs are everywhere,
No matter where I turn;
His voice is all around me—
Soul-stirring and discerned.
Squirrels chatter to their twins,
Scampering together;
Chick-a-dees now add their song;
Ducklings trail their mothers.
Dancing leaves upon the trees
Multitudes of colors;
Dew-dropped blades of grass reply,
Sourcing bugs with cover.
Unobservant folks would say,
“There’s nothing much to see,”
Fulfilling busy schedules,
They fail to see what’s free.
Only when God’s leashed-in might
Explodes with lusty showers,
Hurricanes, tornadoes, storms,
Awesome in their power;
Men then look to Him above,
Praying for solutions
That have been there all along,
Granting absolution.
Whispers of His grace abound,
Mere edges of His love;
Daily blessings all around
Drop from the wings of doves.
Crickets, chirping, add their voice,
Butterflies add flickers;
Bobbing robins eating worms,
Horses raising knickers.
Betty Bunny’s twitching nose,
Perky ears arresting;
Statuesque, she nibbles grass,
Soft beneath her nesting.
Gulls sweep over wavy lakes,
Diving oft for treasure;
Loons stand tall along the shore,
Eagles soar with pleasure.
Turtles, frogs, and sandy shells
Creep along the seashore;
Lily pads, bulrushes creep
O’er schools of fish galore!
Mountain peaks with snowy caps,
Majestic and unbreached
Underneath the wispy clouds
Hung high above their reach.
Animals from Noah’s ark
Around us do abound,
Each one so original—
Remarkably profound!
Flowers perfume through the breeze,
Rainbow-esquely hued,
Granting pleasure to the eyes
Of those who share their view.
Round and round the squirrels go,
Nails clicking across bark;
Circling round their tree-trunk pole,
They chase from morn to dark.
Craftily the ants built hills
Of sand upon the ground;
Busily industrious,
They work without a sound.
Hanging chime rods tickle air,
Scattered leaves a-flutter;
Floating down the rainy streets,
Stopping up the gutters.
Gusty winds pick up their speed,
Loosing doors and shutters;
Earthquakes tremble at His voice
As they shake and shudder.
Humid air, so thick it hangs,
Gathering all moisture;
Promising to burst into
Cleansing rain, uncloistered.
Rolling waves of wheat and corn
Spreading across the land;
Balmy breezes wing their breath;
Waves crash on beaches’ sand.
Wispy clouds up in the sky
Move slower than a snail;
Pristine white against deep blue,
They form in shapes soon veiled.
Wondrous scenic ‘scapes announce
His Presence through and through;
God paints it all perfectly—
A panoramic view!
God’s present through the night time,
His mercy follows prayer;
He never disappoints me,
His peace, my rocking chair.
“Seek and you will find,” He said,
“Be still and look for Me.
The evidence surrounds you,
On Me you can believe.”
