Topic: Time (11/15/12)
Bethlehem’s Jews searched star lit skies, mystically and systematically placing confidence in the mellow dramatic moons significance to measure out time. In despair, under Rome’s tyrannical thumb, they calculated centuries of lapses in time between God’s promise to send their Messiah, and its fulfillment. Each minute’s lapse led to the Father’s fulfillment.

“Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men, enquired of them diligently what time the star appeared. And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also (Matthew 2:7-8 KJV).”

King Herod, seeking chronological testimony, with a slithering tongue lied between his teeth. Under false pretenses, he sent the magi on their merry way. He was unaware that the God of eternity was in full control of the newborn King’s safety. Jehovah Jireh,(the God that provides) through the Christ child, makes available to all His gift of salvation.

The exchanging of gifts is a time-tested tradition. God gave his Son; wise men presented treasures as a testimony of worshiping the King. “and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts: gold, and frankincense, and myrrh (Matthew 2:11b KJV).” Merry hearts marked time through worshipful giving.

Worship the newborn king! “But when the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law. To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father (Galatians 4:4-6 KJV).” How foolish to lament lapses in time.

And many are still lamenting the lapse of time between Christ's promise to return and the fulfillment, but just as He fulfilled the promise of the first coming, he will do the same for the second coming as well. In His time.

You had a thoughtful way of addressing the topic. It made me realize that the lapses in time of my own life may, indeed, also be according to God's plan and for His purposes to be accomplished...just as in the Bible stories. I think it's the sign of good writing when the reader wants to turn the light back on her own life after reading your piece. Nicely done!
