in God's own image formed,
a living soul.
Now stripped of power and purity
de-robed of immortality,
he put on fear.
Grief, toil and thorns,
the ground, accursed, assumed
morbidity.
Contractual sin, a legacy,
the portion of posterity
his guilt and shame.
Garments of skin,
God's grace and mercy wrought,
his covering.
Blood gushing forth, foretold of one
whose death, would for his sin atone,
the promised seed.
Naked, He stood,
The Son of God, became
a curse, for us.
Beaten and scourged, His raiment torn
replaced with robes, of utmost scorn,
He suffered thus.
Thorns crowned His brow,
the ground below, received
His precious blood.
To death, He did His soul out pour
as, on that shameful cross, He bore,
our guilt and shame.
Garments of grace,
by love and mercy bought
at Calvary.
The sacrificial blood was shed
to bruise the very serpent's head,
and make a way.
For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
1 Corinthians 15:22 KJV
I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness
Isaiah 61:10 KJV
