When sparrow falls from maple tree,
Or brothers fight for victory;
When little babies die in pain
And youngsters search for love, in vain?
WHERE ARE YOU, GOD?
When wars are waged upon our shores,
And men are killed for nothing more
Than human greedy hearts’ desires,
While widows plead and tend home fires?
WHERE ARE YOU, GOD?
When sisters feud and brothers fight,
Or neighbors sue to gain their rights;
When wives and husbands separate,
Betraying vows, divorcing mates?
WHERE ARE YOU, GOD?
When children fail from long-lost hope,
Or parents lose their teens to dope;
When people starve from others’ greed,
Corruption reigns and devils lead?
WHERE ARE YOU, GOD?
When earthquakes strike and storms destroy,
Disasters win and pests annoy;
When all is lost and hope is crushed,
Destroying all that humans trust?
WHERE ARE YOU, GOD?
When morals lapse and justice fails
As guilty verdicts fill our jails;
When evil rules and virtues’ banned,
And all is built on sinking sand?
WHERE ARE YOU, GOD?
When droughts persist and famines smight
And nature skews, creating blights;
Or fires burn within our souls,
Producing angst and guilt untold.
WHERE ARE YOU, GOD?
When bodies fail to operate,
Or illness seems to be our fate;
And heartaches mount with no relief
To threaten all our known beliefs?
WHERE ARE YOU, GOD?
When “free love” reigns and ethics drift,
And Bible standards don’t exist;
While blinded eyes refuse to see,
And right and wrong refuse to be?
WHERE ARE YOU, GOD?
When children learn their parents’ hate,
And prejudice accelerates;
While pride and egos overbear
Humility’s doctrinaire?
ARE YOU THERE, GOD?
YOU SEE IT ALL AND YOU ARE THERE
TO INTERCEDE AND ANSWER PRAYERS;
YOUR WISDOM DICTATES “YEA” OR “NAY”,
OBSERVING WHICH WILL BEND OR SWAY.
ARE YOU THERE, GOD?
MAN’S FAITH IN YOU, YOUR LOVE IN MAN
MOUNTS OBSTACLES ACROSS THE SPAN
OF HUMAN VICES LARGE AND SMALL
THAT THREATEN TO ENSHROUD US ALL.
IS THAT YOU, GOD?
WITHIN OUR HEARTS YOU DO REMAIN,
AND WASH AWAY OUR EVERY STAIN;
FORGIVING US, YOU ARE OUR GUIDE,
FOREVER STANDING BY OUR SIDE.
IS THAT YOU, GOD?
I SEE YOU IN A BABY’S SMILE,
AND IN ALL NATURE’S BLENDED STYLES;
CREATION’S GLORIES ALL AROUND
REVEAL YOUR HEART FROM SKY TO GROUND.
THIS IS YOU, GOD?
YOU BIDE YOUR TIME ‘TIL ALL’S COMPLETE
TO INTERVENE FROM JUDGEMENT’S SEAT,
TO FREE EARTH’S BONDAGE FROM ALL SIN,
EXPOSING THOSE WHO LOSE OR WIN.
