Or dip my quill deep into my vein
If you never hear my unrhyming soul
Plead with uneven pulse
Your praise
In rhythmic form
Anymore
You will still know
I pray
I love you
Forever
If my gift for tickling your heart with free-verse whisper
Ever loses its breath
And has to rest on clouds instead
In seas of blue
Beyond reaching fingers
Yet
You will still know
I pray
I love you
Forever
If my warmth ever leaves our home
My love will fill your hearth
And be your comfort from the cold
When warmth seems so far away
So very
Far away
I pray
You will still know
My heart’s echo will always claim
And never wane
Or fade
Its ballad
Of love
For you
Forever
In every breeze
Through every tree
If you listen
To the leaves
On every beach
With every wave
If you listen
When they break
In every night
From every star
If you listen
It won’t be far
You will hear
I pray
I love you
Forever
If I never bleed another poem
Or dip my quill deep inside my soul
Just to expose
How I feel
I pen this prose
So you will know
I do
I so very do
And will
Forever
I love you

You write it wonderfully!
Another very special piece that I enjoyed immensely.
Awe-inspiring, totally moving, with a precious personal message for everyone who is fortunate enough to read it. Thank you.
I also admired the ingenious way you described poetry "flowing from your veins." I think that all writers can identify with this. The way our writings become a part of us, part of our lifesblood, because they bubble up from our soul.
Brilliantly done, as usual!
I am so glad I read this incredibly beautiful and searing poem/tribute.
Thank you for sharing, Henry.
