The slow shuffling sheaves of lives and dreams
Fecund and fruitful, fraught with truths hidden and lies unbidden
That surface, welling up from depths unknown and unknowable
And spread their stain, a sheen that shines bright rainbow hues
But slays whatever it touches, the unwary lured by its bright false promise
Cede their last gasp and to its fatal grasp bequeath their bones
Where later beetles scuttle and scurry among the slurry stones
A measured gyre of years
A slow shuffling of sheaves of lives and dreams and fears
The fierce, the proud, whose dreamings die a dusty death
Interred beneath the falling years
Never to rise again
Whose bones bleach beneath the relentless sun
Bright wrathful orb observing with merciless precision
Its incandescence mirrors its cold derision
An unhurried gyre of years
The slow shuffling of sheaves of lives and dreams and fears
The sentry stirs. Streaking stars plummet
The skies roll back like a scroll
The centuries are rolled up in a moment, the twinkling of an eye
The end is come, and it is only the beginning
