And puffed and hissed screaming wind
Peels of chaos, discordant din
And swirling typhoon of unchecked sin,
Weary, I was lost within the shroud
Then, in the swirling—I was found.
Winter ended and in between
In the space where silence gleamed
I heard God through Christ to me,
Glory! I have found my only King.
On lovely gliding wings lightly flittering
Spring breezed in like downy seraphs, glittering
Breathless I muttered, ‘tis glowing bells flickering
Sounding clear, crystal pure and shimmering,
And daffodil trumpets blowing sounds renowned
Softly, of love from the One in whom I am found.
Spring ended and in between
In the space where silence gleamed
I heard God speaking directly to me,
Indeed!
At end of newbie honeymoon
Summer’s heat sang flaming plumes
In fitful bursts of inner gloom
Sounds of purging moans and soon,
Impurities protesting wildly, clarifying
Dripping in a molten pool, purifying.
Summer ended and in between
In the space where silence gleamed
I heard God and He was pleased,
With what was left, of what was me.
In the peace of sweet cool nights
I heard autumn’s pattered flight
On wings of poise like those of might,
Like drops of rain precisely placed
In quenching puddles at the base
Of a soul thirsty for His grace.
Autumn ended and in between
In the space where silence gleamed
I heard the subtle voice of Trinity,
And I am still—listening.
