Ricocheted rumors
Tell one man’s offenses,
Tickled curious senses;
People pecked gossip as greedy birds.
“He’s a deceiver
And not at all wise
Insults our leaders
With blatant lies.”
Others say “Prophet—
He healed the blind’s sight,
Stepped out of heaven
To guide us toward light.”
“He’ll rebuild the temple
In only three days—
What a liar,
Who’s seeking false praise!”
Looming over lakes
Dashing through deserts
Stories sprinkled for miles
Some frowned and some smiled
But do rumors tell of his heart ache?
“Spirits flee his command
By the prince of earth
A carpenter’s son,
Steeped in sin at birth.”
“Messiah has come
As the prophets told
He heals our diseases
Beats chaff into gold.”
“He claims he’s God’s Son,
And deserves to be hung,
Put him on trial
And silence his tongue.”
Some rumors still roam
Since the time of his death
With precious blood he paid our debt
With his life we can’t forget
Truth told when Jesus calls us home.
