PLEASE HOLD

Yackety-yack yack, do talk back.
Is it what I think?
Psst! What I know should never go
Beyond your kitchen sink.

Here’s the scoop, you’re in the loop,
But keep it under wraps.
What I heard from one little bird
Would make a turtle snap.

Breaking news, here’s my view,
This is my opinion.
No! Yes! Here’s my guess.
I know you can depend on,
What I say, and by the way,
There’s more to let you in on.

Chatty Chatty Chat, from under my hat,
Have you heard the latest?
No he didn’t, yes he did!
Why, this is just the greatest.

There’s no way! No, it’s true,
I heard the other day.
Tell me more, but I’m very sure
It went the other way.

It’s true, it’s true, I know it’s true,
My source is quite reliable.
His face was straight, he’d hesitate,
If what he said was libel.

I could be wrong, so quote me not.
Perhaps, I shouldn’t say.
It could be black, or maybe white,
Perhaps a shade of gray.

I’ve told no one but you, so far,
It’s supposed to be a secret.
So, you’re the only one I’ll tell,
I know that you can keep it.

You chose to spread real juicy news
Because it was so easy.
But now you find you can’t get through,
The grapevine line is busy.

While you wait to propagate
Something you were told.
Give heed to words that you’ve just heard,

Please hold.”

This was a cute poem with some great points.

Very cute. I loved the double meaning of "Please Hold"
Scarlett Farr11/09/10
loved the snappy pace of this poem. And it got to the heart of the topic in a cute way.

Great title, great message, enjoyable to read...a well-written poem. I think the verse with the five lines through the cadence off a smidgeon but it recovered nicely (but it could just be me too and the way I read it). The rhyme and rhythm were strong.
