I love ice cream. I love every single thing about it. I love the rich creamy texture of it. I love the taste of it. I love it in a bowl. I love it as a split. I love it as a sundae. I love ice cream best on a cone.

When I think of my most favorite ice cream, I think about mint-chocolate chip. Two scoops of it on a waffle cone, is about as close to heaven as I can get.

When I go to my favorite ice cream parlor, I know what I want and have little patience for those little pink spoons being lifted to all the tasterís mouths that are in front of me. I am ready to place my order and wonder why these people donít know what they want or why this parlor doesn't offer just one flavor (mint-chocolate chip) so the line can keep moving!

When itís finally my turn, I order my cone without hesitation. I know those standing behind me are saying to themselves, ďWell, thereís a woman who knows what she wants,Ē and they are glad they are following a woman of such conviction.

When I get my cone, I start licking it slowly, savoring every little taste. The creamy mint flavor comes alive and then I bite into a piece of dark chocolate and the two tastes collide with each other. Upon the collision, there is an explosion in my mouth that sends a signal to my brain that tells me, I should have gotten three scoops instead of only two!

Now, this story about my loving mint-chocolate chip ice cream should be over. I mean really, how much more can I say about my love affair with this wonderful treat.

But, itís not!

You see my favorite treat always reminds me of a deeper love affair that I have with God.

I love the taste of His goodness. I love every single thing about Him. I love His mercy and kindness. I love Him on Sundays and all the rest of the week. I love Him in the morning. I love Him at night. I love Him best when we are alone.

When I take my time to be alone with God, I think about all the things He has given me. How much He has done for me. I think about how much He loves me and for me that is heaven. Knowing God loves me.

When I go to Him and I am impatience, because of all of the challenges in front of me. He always gives me a taste of His wisdom. He tells me to slow down. To let Him do what He needs to do. He tells me to wait for my turn and that He has sent otherís before me to help and assist Him in working through my troubles.

When I finally rest in Him and I wait for His guidance, He always has the right answer. I have confidence in Him and I know that I can trust Him to do what is best for me.

When I am alone with God, I savor each little moment with Him, and I get a taste of His true holiness. The reality of all that He has created collides with the truth of His Word. The two explode in my heart and I am awed by His power and grace. When I need to leave His presence, I wish that I had more alone time with Him.

I hope all of you go get your favorite ice cream and as you are licking away at all that wonderful goodness, you think about how much more goodness there is to be tasted when we learn to trust in the Lord.

I don't think I'll ever eat mint chip (also my favorite) again without thinking of God's goodness - good devotional!

What a wonderful comparison. How true the words you wrote really are. There are so many times when I just went to give up, but there is Jesus tempting me with a taste of what is God id I will only try.

Yes, I loved the way you connected your love of ice cream (also mine) with your love for God. Every time I ask for my favorite chocolate dipped cone from now on I will think about I allowed God to cover me with his grace. Wonderful!

This is an excellent take on this week's challenge. Devotionals usually don't do that well but I see this up there being honored with the best. I like the flow and humor of the piece. Well done. (My absolute favorite ice cream is Mandarin Chocolate from Baskin Robbins. :( I'm not sure they make it anymore.)

I probably would have used butter pecan. Good parallel between passion for ice cream and passion for God. (See what you could have done differently in the first sentence of the 4th paragraph from the bottom.)

Me, too, Debby...gotta love that ice cream! You've made a great devotional out of this one. Congratulations on placing.

Congratulations for placing in the top 15 of your level and in the top 30 overall.

I loved both the taste-of- ice cream and taste-of- relationship with God descriptions. You made them truly real. Excellent devotional!
