Ruling on the throne in royal splendour
Mighty monarch, Self resides,
Blinded by false notions of self grandeur
Living life as he decides.

Surrounded on all sides by other kings,
Ruling ‘Selfdoms’ like his own;
They view each other as mere underlings—
King Self reigns on every throne.

Ongoing conflict is the daily norm,
An environment of war,
A seething cauldron, an unabating storm—
A sure state of anarchy lies in store!

Is there a way to avert disaster?
Can we somehow live in peace?
If all obeyed one Sovereign Master
Would antagonism cease?

God says, there is only one solution—
King Self must be put to death;
To rid him of all of sin’s pollution
He must die in Christ and receive new birth!

King Self, now dead is empty of his pride,
Reigns upon his throne no more,
For in Christ his old sinful nature died—
Gone the king who ruled before.

Now a new King is resident within—
Peace and love evince His life—
Full of His Spirit, free from reigning sin—
I’m a new creature in Christ!

This is brilliant in every way!! Perfect descriptions of man's sin problem... ruling Selfdoms, seething cauldrons, state of anarchy. And the solution is stated beautifully... if we all obeyed one Sovereign Master by new birth. Bravo! Very well done. Linda

Nice work on this poem with it's difficult rhyme scheme. I like many of your thoughts here, "ruling 'selfdoms' like his own" and "a seething cauldron." This is perfect for the empty and full topic!
