Topic: The United Kingdom (01/22/09)
I recently received a comment on one FaithWriter article stating it was hard to "wrap her head around” what I was trying to communicate. After the challenge was over I looked up her name and found she had only been submitting for a short while. Being part of a writing group which does many critiques for each other I wrote to give her a couple of suggestions on critiquing. I found out later they were definitely not needed and a friendship began with a lovely family from the UK.

I also discovered we have several items in common, besides FaithWriters: we are both in the same profession, her family is long term missionaries in Africa (my spouse and I have been on four short-term mission trips but have lived in four countries outside of our mother land), and we both like to sing praises to God. I must admit she has a much better voice than me. She recently placed a song on her web site which we downloaded with permission and sang at our church’s Christmas service last year plus sent the song to friends and to a local Christian radio station, expanding her message to many others.

Even though having only visited the UK ourselves, a bond started to form. A friend of ours recently passed away, also a missionary in Africa, connecting our spirits even more with their mission and being added to our prayers.

Would I have imagined when joining a Christian on-line writing group I would have made friends in the UK, met a dear friend and brother in New Jersey, and even received e-mail prayers for my recovery after an accident from other FaithWriters from Florida to Alaska and from Australia to Bangladesh? Now THIS is hard for me to wrap my head around. God really is making His United Kingdom!

Isn't this wonderful? I met one of my dearest FW friends--also from the UK--through correspondence about a Challenge entry, too!

The first time I heard that phrase, I had to stop and think about the picture that drew in my mind. *chuckling* Since then, I've begun to use it myself. I like the connotation. FW is definitely a blessing to so many.
