Can up ever be down?
If you look at the top of a big tall red oak tree from the ground it is up. But if you look at the top of a very little short red oak tree it is down. If you look at the top of a big tall red oak tree from an airplane window it is down unless the airplane is on the ground.
Can green ever be blue or maybe even yellow?
Did you know if you mix yellow paint with blue paint it becomes green paint and if you mix green paint with red paint it becomes brown paint?
Can a fuzzy wiggly squirmy worm ever fly as high as a butternut tree?
Did you know that some fuzzy wiggly squirmy worms turn into beautiful yellow, purple and blue butterflies that look down on running, giggling, playing boys and girls from the top of a butternut tree?
Can a little fish ever turn into a big old croaking green frog?
Did you know tiny black and brown tadpoles that look like little baby fish change from little black and brown fish into big old croaking green frogs?
Do funny young boys with dirty faces ever grow up to be whopping big blood hound dogs?
No funny young boys with dirty faces never become whopping big blood hound dog, but they get itchy scratchy whiskers on their chin when they get to be almost as big as the bathroom door.
Do little girls in white dresses and rings on their fingers ever grow up to like noisy boys with brown worms in their pockets?
Oh yes they do. It might sound strange right now but when they grow up most girls in white dresses and rings on their fingers fall in love with a noisy grown up boy with a brown worm in their pockets. They even get married and that isn’t even a big fat old Yuck, if he takes a bath before he goes to the church.
Our world is a strange and wonderful place with secrets hidden under leaves and in boxes in the dusty attic near where the bats sleep all day. God knows so much magic that he will bless your eyes with rainbows in the sky, tickle your nose pollen from a tree, tingle your ears with the sound of tubas, explode peppermint on your tongue and tease your fingers with the satin fringe on blankets. He will do this everyday if you always look at his world and ask big questions and tiny little questions, dance on green grass and tell silly jokes about penguins sleigh riding on ice and snow.
Ask people “what if” till your tongue gets tired.
Did you know a long time ago two brothers asked “What if people could fly like the birds” and now people do fly high in the sky because these two brothers asked the question “what if people can fly like the birds.”
Ask people “why” till they roll their eyes up into their brain and look like a TV monster.
Did you know most grown ups don’t know why orange and black paint sticks to boards. If you keep asking “why” someday some very smart person will tell you why orange and black paint sticks to boards. When you hear the answer it will make you smarter than you were before you asked. “Why does orange and black paint stick to boards?”
But the smartest question is. “What do you want me to do God?”
Did you know God tells the shaggy bark hickory trees when to grow new leaves and when to get rid of the old ones? Do you realize if he talks to the shaggy bark hickory trees he will surely talk to you? If you read his word and listen real close everyday and never give up, he will tell you what he wants you to do?
Can up ever be down? When you throw a ball up it almost always comes down.
Can green ever be blue? It can if it is sad.
That’s a joke so ask your mom if green can ever be blue and when she says “I don’t think so”, tell her “it can if it’s sad.” I bet she will laugh.

I wonder if "bats sleep all day" might create some fear in a young one. I'm a grand-pa and it took me by surprize...good writing...dave
