Just grab a bite? Don’t make that mistake.
The new day you see is just like the first,
Here for your blessing, not here for your curse!
I know. I know. There’s work to be done.
But take it in stride, there’s room to have fun.
Go to the cupboard and make it a game,
Pick the cereal with the silliest name.
Eat plenty of fruit, some vitamins too,
Apples, bananas or oranges will do.
Remember to pray, giving “Thanks” to our God,
Just like the fruit, you came from the sod.
Go to the closet, there’s fun to be had.
Don’t dress like me, you’ll look pretty bad.
One glance in the mirror is all it should take,
To many looks, it’s show and no stay.
Off you go! Blessings await!
Work’s for your good. So get to your place!
That smile you need, is joy from the heart.
So touch someone else while you do your part.
There’s planning and buying and meetings to boot,
There’s sweating and selling to bring in the loot.
Money is not the reason I hope,
For keeping your earthly ship afloat.
Work is for giving from all that you are,
Like God go create from deep in your heart.
Give someone your light or a place to stand on,
Like God did for you when you first knew His Son.
There’s nothing routine in the things that you do,
Every second, each minute, each hour brand new.
Work is a blessing; no less and no more,
Than the preacher who’s preaching behind the church door.
There’s much to be done by you and by me,
In Christ just work, cause in Him you’re free.
When the sun is hung low and home is not far,
Look back on your day with a thankful heart.
Your work is all done and it’s time for a rest,
Remember tomorrow is a brand new “your best.”
