Harvest is to be done at the appropriate time. Harvesting too soon will render the produce smaller and perhaps green. Waiting too long to harvest the produce will find it soft and perhaps ready to decay.
Jesus used the analogy of the Harvest Time to communicate the need for those who will work in the fields of the world to bring in those who are ready to be saved. “Oh,” said He, “Look, there is a large harvest but not enough workers to bring it in.”
Matthew 9:37-38 (KJV)
37 Then saith He unto His disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few;
38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that He will send forth laborers into His harvest.
The resulting command to those Disciples, and consequently to us who are His Disciples of today, “You pray that the Lord of the Harvest will cast forward workers into His Harvest.”
How often do we obey this command? Seldom for many, never for some.
Harvest time for the souls of men is every season, every day; “Look, today is the day of salvation!”
2 Corinthians 6: 2 (KJV) For He says: “In an acceptable time I have heard you, And in the day of salvation I have helped you.” Behold, NOW is the accepted time; behold, NOW is the day of salvation”
We, who belong to Jesus, by the washing of His blood for our sins, do not seem to have an understanding that WE are workers together WITH Him in the righteous works He does does on this earth.
Thoughts such as this will win no prize. Thoughts such as this are considered condemnatory when it fact they are rather a challenge.
How much of us does it require to pray for workers to be sent out into the world to bring in the harvest of souls? Harvest is the very reason God came to the earth as Jesus, the man; the explicit reason for His suffering and horrible death.
So let us pray, pray that God will provide workers, and provide for workers, so that the harvest will not rot in the field. There is definite reason to pray for everything that Jesus has commanded us to pray.
The fact that God gave mankind authority on this earth means that when we agree with His will in prayer and proclamation, it opens up the portals between Heaven and Earth for the will of God to be done. Otherwise, the second heaven workers of iniquity block the will of God and His Holy Angels from getting through to us. WE are commanded to pray.
