A distant memory, a love lost, or
Sailing to a distant shore
Each expression is my own, none other can tell
What unfolds in this, indicative of
My tale, my labor of love.
Perhaps it is a maiden, with eyes full of fire
Her lover, lost in the darkness of night
She, searching by candlelight
Or it could be humorous, a jest of some kind
A cantankerous cow wearing a crown
Who’s become the king of town
In suspense? Whodunnit? A mysterious call
That makes everyone a suspect, and
A trick or some slight of hand
History bows to the tip of a fertile pen
A war becomes humanized, with hints of
A soldiers thoughts, life, and love
A fantastical ride on a dragon named Crate
With ogres, fairies, a mythical tale
Will see the wicked witch fail.
These adventures and more are what I can create
A feat accomplished with a square-ish shape
And pen, I have found my “escape”.

As for the poem, that was great! I loved it!
