Destined to appear
long before the bud is visible.
New life begins.
Unique design, shape, color,
unlike all others of its kind.
Cannot exist alone,
relies upon life-giving source.
The tree.
Joined by the stem
through which life flows.
Consider the leaf…
Forceful winds take over,
so fragile, fluttering about.
Remains attached.
The leaf does not let go,
the stem sustains the leaf.
A victim of the rain,
weightless life now hangs low.
Does not fall.
The shaft does not retreat,
faithfully strengthens the leaf.
Consider the leaf…
Blustery chill invades,
threatens delicate form.
Does not break off.
Recipient of stem’s
warmth and protection.
Sunshine bestowed,
causes life to thrive.
Yet still dependent.
Gains it’s staying power
from One who won’t let go.
Consider the stem…
The mediator
between tree and leaf.
Vital connection.
Delivers hope
and life eternal.
Consider the tree…
Power from which the stem
has emerged and grown.
Source of life.
Provides the stem
for the leaf.

Beautiful poem with a well-thought-out progression.
I wish my poinsettia would take note ... its leaves are falling off one by one these days.....
Well done.
Consider the other trees that came before....the community of life....the ongoing creation....the promise of more trees.
Got me thinking...... :-)
