I hate waiting rooms. Hospitals, doctor’s offices, interviews, and auto shops rooms I hate it all. Most of the time I try and read, write, or do something to pass the time and occupy my mind on something else other than the obvious focus. Yet the obvious focus never really leaves. In fact even though I may leave that waiting room, the waiting comes with me. It hoovers around me like an invisible cloud, I can feel it, I see it when I’m sleeping, and it follows me regardless of how fast or slow my travel of the day takes me. Waiting is the endless nag.
Yet, during the wait I’m forced to look heavenward. I cry out in my impatience and God smiles and give me trust. I get discouraged and Jesus gives me hope. I get tired and His Spirit gives me rest from his presence which brings peace.
The waiting room is not for answers necessarily; it is for my training in the race of life. It is where I learn how to run the race of my faith. It is my weakness but in exchange I get His strength. In my pain I get an exchange for overcoming, I don’t necessarily lose my pain, but use it to achieve the goal He has set before me. Enduring, patience, working, running, and just plain living all need the blessings that come from the waiting room.
The waiting room is a room of growth, pain, and work. It is the place in your heart where you come when your frustrated, angry, hurt, overwhelmed, and most of all out of answers. The waiting room is the prayer room; the blessing room for your life.
