The ice sparkled like black diamonds, shining in the moonlight. Crying and praying very hard, Luanna crawled across the black Ice of Lake Woodson. Her tears were falling on her mittens and freezing them to the ice. It wasn’t long before her hands, were numb with cold. How could she get to safety before the terrorists got to her? Her whole family was being killed right now, because they preferred to worship the Holy Christ Child instead of the terrorists,’ Allah. The whole family had attended Saint Mark’s Catholic Church for years. Then suddenly a troop of Muslims and all of their heavy machinery moved into town.
The warnings had come down to the Father, Most Holy Rev. Mark Angelica, to stop doing any preaching against the Muslims or Allah. The Father stopped talking against the Terrorists, but Luanna’s father wouldn’t stop. So after a few days of his reteric, the terrorists became very angry, barged into their house and grabbed her mom and dad. The screams were blood curdling, the noise of the soldiers and guns’ loud popping, terrified Luanna. She had been in the bathroom, so the men didn’t see her at first. Slipping out the back window, she dropped to the ground, bruising her ankle. This made walking very difficult. Crawling seemed to be the only way she could get out of there.
“I’m going to be killed, God. Please save me and help my mom and dad and sister. I know that you are the great God and you can do anything, please, oh please, help me God.” The tears kept coming, flooding her face. Icicles were beginning to form on her cheeks.
Luanna felt the ground vibrate under her bloody knees. The men were very close now. With all the courage and strength she could muster, Luanna crawled into the old oak tree in which the kids all played during the summer. It was hollow inside and made a great hiding place.
“I’ll be safe in here for a while, and I can warm my hands.”
Again, the pounding of feet and horses hoofs was coming closer and closer. Luanna didn’t dare breathe. The soldiers were looking very carefully in the wagons and the brush. They stuck their swords into the tree, trying to catch anyone who might be trying to hide in there and escape.
Soon, the men were gone, the place was deathly quiet. Luanna crept out of the tree, looked all about the lake and decided it was safe. She was really afraid to go back to the house, but she did it.
Arriving at the house. Luanna’s stomach turned sick. Lying in the pools of blood, splattered all over the porch, were her father and mother, and sister. This time her tears could not be stopped.
Suddenly, with out warning, there came a gurgling noise from her mom’s spot! Jumping up, Luanna ran over to where she lay. A little nose started wiggling out from underneath the mom’s shoulder. Luanna looked closely at that nose. It was Blackie, the special little lamb the family had raised from birth. He was supposed to be white, but somehow God decided that he should be black. How clever God was, if he had been white, then the soldiers would have seen him and shot him too.
He ran over to Luanna, put his little hoofs up on her dress wanting to be picked up. The hoofs left bloody prints all over her. She was so glad to have something left of her family. “I think Blackie was trying to keep mother warm as he laid beside her.”
The two partners left the bloody scene. Luanna started out across the black lake again. She was going to find her aunt and uncle in the next town. They weren’t saved yet, so the soldiers hadn’t bothered them. Hopefully, the travelers would find a home there.
The two escapees wearily trudged on to the village, hiding behind trees when they thought someone was coming. Finally, Luanna saw the lights of her Aunt’s house. Running towards the house, Luanna failed to notice the Soldier standing guard at the door.
Just then, Blackie ran up to the man and jumped up on his pant leg and scared him away.
Come to find out, the soldiers considered a black sheep as bad luck. They didn’t want to let the lamb touch them.
Blackie saved Luanna that day! Christ, the white Lamb can save you TODAY!

The ending was wonderful, I was glad for a "happy ending" to this entry. I pray for more happy endings in "real life."
Great job with this piece.
