Jack wondered if a person could sizzle.
“Well,” he concluded, “I suppose if you could stew in your own juice, you could sizzle in your own fat.”
Deducing the possibility reminded him of his own excessive provision of lard, pondering that he was more likely to sizzle than stew. This brought him back to the chosen writing challenge topics lately and how they left him so uninspired.
What were they? Funny he couldn’t remember; that’s how unimpressed he had been. Sizzle and drip were the only two that came to mind.
“Can a drip sizzle?” he thought. “I suppose it can if it landed on a surface hot enough.”
A sizzling drip, he could be one of those. After all wasn’t drip a term you gave to an annoying person? He knew he could be annoying. It wasn’t that he meant to be; it was just that he saw the funny side to most things in life and voiced his opinion. Sometimes others found it overbearing.
Retrospect can be a bad thing as it can make you gloomy: depressed. The most annoying people were those who were down on themselves, oh he found them so aggravating. Yet he knew it couldn’t be helped from time to time as even he struggled with mild depression he couldn’t account for.
Anyway… enough of that, what were we thinking about? Oh yes, sizzling. Now that reminded him, when someone acted well in a play it was sometimes said they put on a sizzling performance. Jack chuckled at the thought of someone sizzling on stage, but he was considering the sizzling drip.
A constant drip was an annoying thing, which reminded him of The Faith – doctrine.
What was it God had said to Elijah, “Line upon line, precept upon precept.”
Life’s most valuable lessons were learned that way, one constant drip at a time till they were burned in your memory. More chuckles, there could be that sizzling drip again.
Drip… drip… drip, drip, and drip; oh would somebody give me a break? Then the light breaks through and the Gospel shines into your heart. Ah, the savour; like the pork mignons I have frying on the stove just now. A beautiful, mouth-watering, sizzle released scent of the joy of actually being alive by Jesus Christ.
Weekly, day after day, hour by hour The Gospel was being presented somewhere in the world, and what a joy it is to those who are birthed through its constant reminder; Life -sizzling happily in the constant realisation of the eternity that is theirs.
