TITLE: What Are Friends For | Previous Challenge Entry

Our husbands are best friends, and where one is the other isn’t far behind. They are avid golfers, and after retirement that is where you will find them just about every morning.
Lizzie, and I start each morning with fresh baked muffins or coffee cake before studying our Bible lesson together. I had just set my muffins on the wire rack to cool when I heard Lizzie walking on my patio.
“Good morning Lizzie. Come on in, grab a cup of coffee, pull up a chair, and take a load off. I knew once you smelled my muffins you would get your Bible and come over. While they are cooling we can read through our Bible lesson for this coming Sunday.
“Good morning to you, Annie, my friend. What better way to start the day then by enjoying the company of your best friend, and reading the Living Word of our Lord and Savior. I look forward to this special time each morning.
“I couldn’t agree more Lizzie. The Bible lesson for this week is gluttony. We’ve covered lust, greed, sloth, wrath, envy, pride, and this one hits home. Once upon a time we ate whatever we wanted, and never gained an ounce. HA! Not anymore.”
“Oh, Annie, don’t remind me. Diet is an evil word in my dictionary. We belonged to the see food, and eat it diet when we were younger, but after passing fifty it seems we look at food, and the fat in the food jumps into our bodies.”
After that statement we started laughing about the plight of guarding our appetites, and keeping our weight under control.
“Oh, Lizzie, only you could put into words how hard it is to maintain a healthy weight this day and age. Our downfall is sweets. We love our early morning muffins and coffeecake as we sit and read the Bible. That surely doesn’t help us maintain a healthy weight.”
“Oh, Annie, hush up.” I said between giggles.
“Seriously Lizzie, we are suppose to set an example for the younger women about conducting our lives to bring glory to God. By ignoring His teachings about overindulgence is setting a bad example. Gluttony is consider a sin.”
“Oh Annie, you didn’t have to point that out, but you have the courage to point out our downfall, and stand by your convictions. For that I thank you. I may not like what you say at times, but we are children of the Most High and gluttony is a sin. Proverbs 23:20-21 says it so perfectly. “Do not join those who drink too much wine or gorge themselves on meat, for drunkards and gluttons become poor, and drowsiness clothes them in rags.”
“Amen to that Lizzie. Shall we say a prayer and get to it. I love our study time together. We are closer than sisters, and we can share our deepest feelings without causing a rift between us.

Be careful with the quotation marks. If you don't put one at the end of the paragraph it means the same person is speaking. I did have trouble following who was speaking.
You did a nice job with this. You covered the topic in a sweet way. I really liked those characters. They seemed real and left me with a feel good feeling.
