Topic: The Comedy of Errors (not about the play) (08/18/11)
Our lives are the result of decisions. Some of these decisions are made for us and some these decisions are made by us.

God decided when and under what circumstances we were to be born and given the opportunity to fulfill our individual part in His master plan.

It is God who determines the length of our time here on Earth, and the appointed time and means of our departure.

These predetermined factors play a large role in the degree of freedom that we have to set the course of our own lives during the time here on earth.

Accordingly, one should consider if it is the will of God to make major changes in such things as the geographical loca-tion in which God placed him or her.

The more time and freedom that we are given, the greater the degree of account-ability there is concerning what we chose to do with the opportunities given to us.

What we do with a presentation of the Gospel Message is the greatest decision of our lifetime. What we do with the post salvation spiritual life that follows is the greatest set of decisions we make.

No matter how successful or how much of a failure we turn out to be in our own estimation or in the evaluation of others, unless we are born again and receive a regenerated human spirit as a result, we will spend all of eternity separated from God in what the Bible calls the lake of fire.

If we are born again, the question of where we will spend all of eternity has been settled, but how we will experience it is determined by our DAILY choices to either take part in the true post salvation spiritual life, or to spend time focused on the things of the here and now.

The concept of good or bad luck, as being the navigator of our lives is contrary to the mind of Christ and contradicts the doctrine of divine sovereignty.

Either the God of the Bible is God and has full knowledge of everything that takes place, with the ability to direct and to intervene in the affairs of Man, or He is not God.

We have no issues when God directs the course of His creation or when He intervenes in the ways that we anticipate or pray for, but we can be spiritually challenged when He requires us to accept some of the things God allows to take place.

His choice not to intervene can seem to project God as being an unloving, uncar-ing, impersonal Being. Those who walk with daily know that this is not true.

God IS in charge and He has a divine objective for all that He directs, allows, or if/when He chooses, to intervene.

The comedy of errors that make our lives a mystery is the impact of the decisions that God, other people, and we make for ourselves.

The spiritual question that needs to be answered here, is how do all these decisions and allowances factor into the end result of accomplishing the will of God.

The answer is found in the Doctrine of the Divine Decree.

The Divine Decree, authored by God before He created Man, is a theological term that refers to all that Adam and down to the last human soul to be created, would think and do during his/her time here on Earth.

God gave free will to both the angelic and human beings that He created for His glory. God does not violate or take back the free will He has given, but does hold us accountable for the decisions we choose to make and the actions we choose to take.

With His omniscience, He knew of every thought and action that every human soul would choose to make in the course of their time here on Earth, and factored these decisions and actions into the master plan that He endorsed for the human race that He created.


The comedy of errors in the spiritual realm is such that as soon as we think we have life figured out and have set a course that we believe even God will bless, something comes out of the blue and changes everything.

The only concern of the advancing disciple is that he/she has the spiritual discernment to understand what the divine objective is that God desires to achieve through him/her in all that He directs, allows, or chooses to intervene.

Some really deep spiritual thinking going on throughout this entry, I enjoyed it, and you make many salient points.

I particularly enjoyed the summation of the story:

"The only concern of the advancing disciple is that he/she has the spiritual discernment to understand what the divine objective is that God desires to achieve through him/her in all that He directs, allows, or chooses to intervene."

This is true, when one is shares an intimate relationship with God, it is easier to discern and "listen" to our Master's voice in all decisions of our lives. Nicely done...Good job.

God gives us free will and we can choose which direction our life will go. If we choose incorrectly we end up in hell, but if we chose to live for God we have His living word to help us become the creature He created us to be.
