In a flash Hyan was gone, merely more than a blink of the eye. He returned as quickly.
Charoni’s brows raised in question.
“Three women driving away from a bible study making a left turn when another car sped out of the corner gas station headed directly at them. They barely had time to speak His name. I pushed their car through the intersection preventing a collision that would have resulted in death to all. It wasn’t their time.”
Charoni nodded. “And?”
“They gave Him thanks, even though they weren’t fully aware of His intervention.”
Their assignments continued, as it always had and always would, throughout eternity. There was no day and night to them, for in this place it didn’t exist because He was continual light. And on earth, when it was day for some, it was night for others.
“Do you ever wish you could be one of those in His presence crying Holy, Holy?”
Hyan shrugged. “This is our assignment. It is the order of things. We do His bidding.”
Charoni nodded. He didn’t mind, for they were always in His presence. His presence was everywhere. He – Him – They were one and the same, but visibly separate. Creator, The Great I Am, Omniscient, Omnipotent, Omnipresent.
Charoni smiled. “What?” It was Hyan asking now.
“A softball game of seven and eight year old boys.” Charoni especially liked assignments with children. “Some were praying for a win. He instructed me to not influence the outcome of the game, but to protect those little ones. I stopped a ball from hitting one of them in the head by pushing him aside just in time. His parents complimented their young son on his quick reaction. ”
Hyan smiled, then was gone and returned in a flash, his expression unreadable. “He sent me, then instructed me to not interfere or intervene on behalf of a young husband and father in Iraq, but to intervene for the young man next to him. It was the young father’s time. His Spirit was there to comfort him in his last moments, as His Spirit will be there to comfort his loved ones.”
Sometimes it happened thusly. It was the order of things. He has His say in all matters, though it grieves His heart that mankind must suffer the consequences of their actions or the action of others. It has been so from the beginning and would be so throughout eternity. Often their assignments were to intervene, but just as often, they were instructed to not intervene. They did not question Him, for they had no desire to question. After all, it was He who knew all. To be in His presence, to feel the peace, joy and love emanating from Him was enough. They could not imagine desiring anything more, or to question such love and compassion, as did Lucifer and those that went with him. That had been a time of great upheaval, but as in all things, He reigned as Master even in the midst of it.
They wonder how some of humanity could not love One so magnificent as He who gave so completely and sacrificially for them. It was He that gave them a free will to choose. It could only be so, it was the order of things, there could be no other way. In giving them free will, He gave them the power to break His heart.
Their assignments continued: a child lost in the woods, a family held hostage in their home. In one, they were instructed to intervene, but not in the other. Hyan helped a family find their way out of their burning house. Charoni helped a drowning child safely to shore. Most never realized they were there. Some gave thanks, acknowledging divine intervention, many did not.
There are many angels doing His bidding, harkening unto His voice. Their assignments continue throughout eternity, or until He says differently.
“Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?” Heb 1:14 NIV
“Praise the Lord, you his angels, you mighty ones who do his bidding, who obey his word.” Psalm 103:20 NIV
