TITLE: Just A Few Minutes Ago | Previous Challenge Entry

A few minutes ago, you were a fun-loving, fun-seeking seven-year-old enjoying a week at church camp. You listened to the stories of My missionary from a remote country telling about the natives learning about Jesus and pouring down to the altar inviting Him into their heart. When I knocked on the door of your heart, you walked down the aisle, too, and let Me in.
A few minutes ago, you were a young lady of 16, lying across your bed, wanting with all your heart to please Me. You had listened to the sermon that morning about Solomon and knew that he had asked for wisdom, a prayer that pleased Me immensely. You prayed that prayer – not realizing that “in much wisdom is much grief.” (Ecclesiastes 1:18 NKJV) But you learned the cost of wisdom before you ever believed you had any.
A few minutes ago, you were saying “I do” to the one I sent you to put butterflies in your tummy, a spring in your step and a sparkle in your eye. Your hand fit perfectly in his – and stayed there.
A few minutes ago, you were fighting for your life in a labor room, giving birth to a strange little creature you had no idea how to care for. You had a reaction to the anesthesia during the C-section and couldn’t breathe. You were awake enough to tell Me that if I wanted to take you now, okay, but please let your baby be safe. She was; you were.
A few minutes ago, you were leading your seven-year-old son into the Kingdom of God as he asked Jesus into his heart. Given the life he leads now, what an anchor of hope those few minutes have been to you!
A few minutes ago, your last child joined My kingdom and I gave your husband the privilege, as a cell group leader, to baptize her into the family of God. He was filled with joy, and so were you.
A few minutes ago, you wept as you poured your heart out to Me about your life. Marriage, family, finances, home-schooling, church ministries – struggles so intense you could hardly even voice them to Me - all seemed more than you could handle. You wanted to run away but knew that wouldn’t be My will. So you laid them all at the foot of My cross. And you hung in there.
A few minutes ago, you celebrated your 50th birthday – on Thanksgiving – with all the family there to enjoy it with you.
A few minutes ago, your husband retired and you moved south. You began a new life together, again, with a rarely-empty nest. I gave you a new church family to get to know, enjoy and serve with and the last house you two would own.
A few minutes ago, I brought you home. You were calmly, quietly ushered through the gateway and we exulted in our first real hug. Now you are standing before Me reviewing how you lived on earth. I’ve shown you your side of your life – now I want to open My Book and show you what I have written about that life…
