The white clear page on the computer glows with the black cursor blinking, mocking my inability to form the thoughts into mind grabbing words.
It is here that the blinking curser starts blending with the ticking of the clock. Flash, tick, flash, tock, flash, tick, flash, tock, and on it goes.
I pose my fingers on the key board and decide to just let the one word thoughts flow out my fingers. I feel the touch of the keys and I begin to type words like: prayer, silent, loud, knelling, altar, standing, walking, sitting, answered, miracle, healing, scripture, God, Jesus. All fine words to describe prayer, yet, I feel I have left out something important, a word or thought, or question, that has not yet passed through my fingers.
Flash, tick, flash, tock, flash, tick, flash, tock …
Flash! Then another word pops out, Gethsemane. Tick, flash, tock….
More words come to mind: watch, sleep, blood tears, take away, cross, God’s will be done. Now more Jesus words come forth such as, Father forgive, My God, I thirst, It is finished, and into Your hands.
Suddenly I see the flashing stop, yet I still hear in my mind the tick and the tock of the clock counting off the time-consuming seconds of life. The words all come together for me now. My thinking and typing have brought me to the most important prayers of all. Those are the prayers lifted up for the lost people who have not heard or refuse to hear the good news of Jesus. They do not believe He suffered the cross, giving them salvation from their sins, and a free pass to God.
And the other important prayer is the one we say to repent for our sins and to receive Jesus into our hearts. The one in which we totally surrender our life to the service of our Lord.
Tick, tock, tick, tock….life is passing by in an ever-consuming speed. It eats up our time to be redeemed.
It is my prayer as I seriously start the writing of the book on prayer that the words of salvation prayer will be already ringing out in every corner of this earth. God is waiting and listening to hear that all important prayer directed to His son Jesus. It is my prayer right now that no one is letting the clock beat them.
Tick, tock, tick, tock …
