Our Lord is infinite and He wants us to have a “good trip” until we reach our final destination…Him. Becoming more Christ-like is a journey that does not end until your time is up here on Earth. Each day we draw closer to Him through the encouragement of the Holy Spirit. However, this journey should be full of joy, love and not rules with regulations that leave a heart heavy. Growing Christ-like does not mean to become boring–like. Shining the Light of the Lord to draw people in is similar to a bug zapper…ZAP! Except we shock them with life, not, death. The ultimate goal is to have them glow and attract their own little critters.
The Apostle Paul advises, “put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes….In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” (The Quest Study Bible, NIV) Even though it is believed that Paul did not have any children, he probably would have made a great father. His use of picture words are simple and to the point. Donning equipment for battle, even children, the masters of pretend, can relate as they imagine dressing up like a Knight at King Arthur’s round table. Protect your King!
Think like a child, invite unsaved friends, family and neighbors over to play games, eat with or watch movies together. Develop a relationship with them first, then, invite them to your church. Once the Lord of our Universe gets a hold of them and you hear that wonderful prayer of salvation emerge from their lips, grab those make believe swords and run around with your New Christian friend while yelling at the top of your lungs, “To Infinity and Bon Voyage!”
