Suddenly, she snapped to her senses. No. No, I shall not die, but I will live and proclaim the wondrous works of the Lord. I am an overcomer through Christ. I won't give in to this thing.
The brown mark on her breast had been growing over the past few months, a shadow of the tumor inside. It threatened her life like a timed clock ticking away, numbering her days. But no, she wouldn't have it. “I shall not die from this disease,” she said, out loud to herself in the mirror. “I will live.”
At times it was a battle, a heaviness weighing on her heart, other times, it was like nothing. “Who do you think you are anyway Cancer? Don't you know who my God is?” She'd say, knowing that He had it all under control.
She spent time in His Word, listening to Him, praying and seeking. Sometimes, doctors gave her negative reports. “If you don't do the Chemo, you'll die, if you do it, there's a 40% percent chance you might survive,” they told her. She remembered how awful she felt after the first dose of Chemo. She knew it wasn't the way for her. For others, maybe, it was their choice, but not for her. She would fight this battle another way.
As she listened, prayed and searched, God led her across some books that had an alternative method that she felt comfortable with. Everyone thought she was crazy. Some thought, perhaps, she wants to die, she's turned down the traditional and conventional medicines to treat her disease. But she knew in her heart, she was doing what was right for her.
The brown mark soon began to raise and break through the skin causing a small wound. She covered it with a bandage and continued to stand. She refused to be overcome by it's voice. She refused to believe that she'd die. She had so much hope and faith in His guidance in her life.
Then a dramatic thing began to happen. The thickened skin of the brown mark on her breast began to soften. The sore began to dry up. The lump became smaller and smaller. The brown mark began to fade, till it became just a few little brown freckles.
She was so excited. She knew that she had listened to God's leading and won the battle. She'd done what was right for her. And in time she shared her testimony with many. Her testimony was, “Hear from God the treatment that you should take for your disease, then know and believe that God will either heal you Himself directly or lead you to the right treatment that will bring your healing.” Don't give in to the voice of despair, but follow Him who came to give you life and give it to you more abundantly.
