Jodie my younger sister already had two little ragamuffins running around her house. I watched as Jodie and Mike ran and played with Mike Jr. and Lizzie. I ran across the street to give her the good news.
“Oh Crystal I am so happy for you and Frank. It’s about time you started a family. Mom and dad will be ecstatic. Let’s call them together and tell them. I want to hear mom holler at dad that they are going to be grandparents again but its Crystal and Frank’s baby. I can just about hear dad holler loud enough to raise the roof.” Jodie laughingly said.
“Jodie Doctor Martin called I am going to have a little boy. Frank is so excited. He kept telling me it has to be a boy because he promised dad he would give him his name and we are going to name him Andrew James. Oh, Jodie I’m so happy.” I said.
Frank and I were so busy getting the nursery ready for our first born that before I realized it I was in my sixth month.
“Good morning Dr. Martin. I hope all is well with you. I’m feeling fantastic and I eat whatever I want. I sleep very well and I’m not having any problems other then getting bigger. I feel like a waddling walrus but I’m doing great.” I said.
“Well Crystal everything looks good and the baby is very active which is good. According to all the test results mother and baby are healthy as a horse. I will set up your next appointment for three weeks instead of every month. It won’t be long before little Andrew makes his grand entrance and I want to keep both of you healthy. Will see you in three weeks Crystal and keep doing what you are doing because everything is looking good.” Dr. Martin said.
When I got home, I told Frank what Dr. Martin had told me. I called Jodie and told her all is well and we are doing great. Time flew by and before I even realized it, October had arrived. October 10 at 2:00 A.M., my water broke and Frank got me to the hospital. Andrew was born at 3:00 A.M. Our families were in the waiting room when Frank announced Andrew’s birth. Our families shouted halleluiah. Jodie almost knocked Frank down as she ran into my room wanting to hold little Andrew.
“Crystal I know you didn’t want a fuss but I wrote a little poem for this happy occasion. I hope you like it.” Jodie sheepishly said.
“An Angel from Above”
Oh, Lord You’re so very gracious.
You truly are a God of love.
You entrusted us with Andrew a
child sent to us from above.
Lord we ask for Your guidance
sent down to us from above.
Lord, we ask Your help in raising
him with humility and love.
We will fold his little hands
and teach him how to pray.
We will read from Your Bible so
Andrew will walk in Your ways.
We ask that You help us as we
raise Andrew to walk in Your light.
Moreover, please help us to set Godly goals
for Andrew so he remains in Your sight.
“Oh, Jodie God has blessed me with the best sister in the world. Here he is Andrew James 8 lbs 22 inches long kicking up a storm and looks just like his daddy when he was little.” I said as Jodie took him out of my arms and covered his face in kisses.
