I enjoyed your take on the topic.
Your Mr. Murphy/Lewis character was particularly intriguing. I'm curious how his tender heart became masked in that tough outer shell.

Enjoyed this much, would love to read a prequel on Mr. Curmudgeon and get the rest of the story. A lot of heart shown here on the part of Denise.
The last sentence put a smile on my face too. There are a few punctuation & grammar boo-boos. If you read your story out loud, I think you'll be able clean it up some. The idea is creative and your writing flows nicely - the story is GRAND! I really enjoyed it!
