I didn’t totally understand at the time what the Lord had meant by this, but as I grew in my Christian walk, and began to reflect on past choices, I realized that my impetuousness and jumping ahead of God caused more heartache and failure than I wish to admit. There are several times that I started things that God hadn’t really given me clear direction on. The failure came in the way of things like lack of support, or unnecessary criticism for that which I’d attempted to undertake. It’s not that God didn’t want me to do that thing, it’s just I needed to wait on His timing. Come to eventually find out, if I’d waited until I was “proved” in that area I was zealous about, that God’s stamp of approval and favor would have been on it. The thing that should have told me I wasn’t ready is the lack of peace about it, and the struggle of getting it off the ground.
God wants all of His people to succeed in whatever it is that He has called us to do. But if we wait on Him instead of jumping ahead on our own and wanting God to bless it, We’d find the grace (divinely enabled) to be right “smack dab” in the center of God’s perfect and divine will.
