From life there flows a melody
Verse and chorus, unrehearsed
Seasons, days, and moments
In symphony, souls immersed.
What grand operatic style
This drama lavishly unfolds
Each song streams from within
Blind to the fate its future holds.
Act one, the singer boasts
A lofty aria of pride.
Vain glory, disdain, pretension
Cascades from deep inside.
A descant, long and shrill-
Lyrics laced with bitter gall
Midst self-righteous gasconade
Alas, there came a fall.
Act two, a martyr’s song
No other ear could seem to hear
A serenade bleeds self-pity
Welling from the depths of fear.
From its despondent rueful strain
Ebbs affliction and despair
Colorless, its wail bemoans,
“Life’s just so unfair!”
Act Three, a roguish piece
Untamed, its enticing eerie tune-
A rhapsody of sin spills forth
As wolves howling at the moon.
Dissonant chords, vexing, wild-
Hellish, its cadence rings
Noxious and unhallowed
The betrayer’s carol, it sings.
The Final act, the Victor’s song-
Spilling freely from His throne
Resonance, sweet harmony,
Invades the splendor of its tone.
“Holy” sings the multitudes
Caught in His embrace
From the Savior, Lord of Lords.
Streams the melody of grace.
