Topic: Lock (03/06/06)
When does it seem we have been ill-equipped to deal with the pressures of modern life? When does it seem we just don't measure up? Let's gird ourselves with the breastplate of holiness or rightness and press on towards the prize--blessings abound in Heaven.
Locking and loading is an example of our possible preparedness for anything . And certainly anything can and will happen in our lives as true believers. Do we understand what a Christian life can mean in our daily struggles or challenges? Do we know what a life with the Lord will mean for us? Can we look forward to plentiful possibilities of the unusual kind? We hope we can, don't we?
Let's know what we can do to lock and load our equipment and continue on with the vicissitudes of our earthly existences impinging upon us. What equipment do we need? The Bible, a cross and a commitment to the Lord are always helpful as we wend our way through the maze of modernity and tantalizing temptations--tests that trouble us eternally.
Let's consider our plight in relation to the plights of other unfortunates who walk the planet in peril from war, confusion, and, perhaps, imminent destruction or death. Are we not blessed in comparision to those others--the Third World people who can barely live from day to day and have little to lock and load in self-defence or with definite determination? Let's praise the Lord for our advantages, beliefs, and lives of abundance!

Finally, let's relate if we can to the rich and powerful who attempt to rule this planet and yet find something missing in their lives. Can they lock and load spiritual arsenals and live holy existences? Or do they languish in discontent, loneliness and endless cycles of boring routines? Can we identify with their feelings, at least as we understand our own evocative emotions and express ourselves? Let's rejoice about our spiritual resources and riches and thank God for opportunities that the wealthy ones don't enjoy!

Amen! Good sermon-although it seemed just that-A sermon. Many people are turned away when they think they're going to be preached to and that would be a shame with this article becasue what you have to say is GREAT!

An article of this brevity should perhaps not have so many questions--they get overwhelming to the reader. Ask one or two questions at most, then provide your answers. You have some wonderful truths to convey--thank you.
