That “God don’t need your help child.”
“Doesn’t need,” I’d correct her with a smile.
She’d say, “Blessings aren’t based on your whims.”
But Momma I would argue,
I am tired of being alone and lonely.
Can’t I help Him find my one and only?
Maybe Internet dating that’s what I’ll do.
As usual Momma was right,
After e-mailing a lot of frogs and toads,
And going down some wrong roads,
Found out on-line I wouldn’t find my knight.
That’s when I did as Momma said,
To wait and see what He would bring.
In the process I found out some things,
That I needed help with instead.
When I stopped putting me first,
And learned to be content in whatever state,
God sent the perfect man as my mate.
Such love, my heart feels like it will burst.
Whatever the bright future holds,
Yes, I’ll still make my desires known,
But because of Momma’s wisdom I have grown,
I’ll wait on Him to see what unfolds.
