There is a battle raging in our garage - a battle between a furry animal and my husband (Wayne). Since something has invaded his space, Wayne is determined to ensnare that little critter. After many hours of planning, a tiny mouse-trap sat on the garage floor – loaded with cheese. There was no escape for that little intruder.
With a snap of the trap, a tiny black rat lay lifeless on the floor. “Honey, I got one! I got one!” This was not the end of the battle. After inspecting the garage for more casualties, Wayne noticed another tiny critter in the corner. Time to ensnare another critter.
Overnight a tiny loaded trap lay waiting for new invaders. How many rats will escape that trap? Again, with a snap of the trap, a tiny rat lay lifeless. Was the battle over? I don’t think so!
The next morning, tiny footprints impressed into the newly fallen snow led to the opening in the garage door. “Honey, we are being invaded.”
Yes, the invasion of the rats had begun. Only this time, the big rats came for dinner. After viewing a large black rat leaving the garage and walking into the back yard, Wayne decided it was time for action. It was time for the rat-trap. This trap was bated with cheese and peanut butter.
There is no way that big rat will escape this time. Perhaps!
The next morning, the cheese and peanut butter were gone but no trapped rat. Now Wayne was more determined to get that rat. This time Wayne constructed a cage with old material from the basement. After many hours of planning, the cage sat on the garage floor waiting for the next intruder. The enticing smell of chicken and cheese was too much for any rat to resist.
Was there no way of escaping for this black rat? Time will tell.
After many attempts, the rat outwitted Wayne and the battle rages. This battle of wits only proves that the simple can outwit the wise.
