Around a simple Christmas tree
The parents hugged and smiled,
And the house lit up with gladness
With the wonder of their child.

In a mansion lush and stately,
With the glitter and the gold,
Hearts still searched for meaning
and wonders to behold.

In the decorated sickroom
Lies a saint who’s weak and ill,
But in the room a Presence,
Who sheds His wonder still.

In the busy shopping place,
With worldly press and din,
Time to pause and ponder:
The wonder is within.

Today for those who seek Him,
In struggles or in strife,
He reaches out and touches,
brings His wonders to each life.

For long ago our Father saw
how deep our needs would be,
And offered us fresh vision
That His wonders we might see.

To some shepherds on a hillside,
Angels came before the morn,
Announcing Christ the Savior,
The wondrous Child was born.

In a manger in a stable,
In surroundings meek and mild,
Christmas came forever,
In the wonder of a Child.

Beautiful comparisons of the events of the present to the day of Christ's birth. Very good with rhythm, rhyme, and form. :)
