"No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it." (1 Corinthians 10:13, NIV)
Standing at a junction, I am faced by a choice
To take an easy road, or follow the Lordís voice.
To choose temporal benefits, with the man I love
Or choose the bonds eternal, with life from above.
Temptation is crushing, it is too much to bear!
Where have You gone, my God! You said You would be there!
Give me a way out of here! Iím drowning in pain!
I canít face the deep heartache Ė what is there to gain?
You are all-powerful, bring my man to love You!
Isnít that Your desire? Itís not that hard to do!
Oh, God, Oh, God, please help me! I canít make a choice!
Donít leave me here, all alone! Let me hear Your voice!
Oh, my dearest daughter! Iím right here beside you!
I am your counsellor. I am good and just, too.
I have built a bridge for you, so strong you canít fall.
Step forward in faith, my dear! Respond when I call.
Down on my knees I cry, I am broken and worn.
Saviour! Father! Help me walk calmly through this storm.
Agonised, I separate from the man I loved.
May God touch your life, my dear. Forgive me, my love.
Father, I surrender. I canít live without You.
But Iím broken, angry. Show me what You can do!
I canít see the bridge for tears, but I choose to trust
For the one I left behind. Protect both of us.
I step out. Iím falling. I trust the bridge exists.
I feel the firm support, my hand held in His fist.
I am engulfed by His love, though spent by sorrow
Iím held firmly above the ravages below.
For years I step slowly, being healed in His arms.
Enriched, healed and restored, preparing for new paths.
Purified in intense fire, coming through the test
With a new sense of purpose, in His arms I rest.
"Whoever finds his lower life will lose it [the higher life], and whoever loses his lower life on My account will find it [the higher life]." (Matthew 10:39 Amp.)
